GED Preparation

The GED (General Education Development) tests are designed to provide an opportunity for adults who have not graduated from high school to earn a State of Florida High School diploma by measuring the major academic skills and knowledge associated with a high school program of study that graduating seniors should know and be able to do, with increased emphasis on workplace and higher education.

Tallahassee Community College offers GED preparation courses in a traditional face-to-face classroom setting. We have dedicated and knowledgeable instructors who are passionate about your dreams. We take pride in our face-to-face GED program and in our instructors who deliver them.

Course Assignments

Students are expected to attend all classes and actively participate on a daily basis during class time. Students are expected to complete class assignments and homework in a timely manner. Throughout the course, TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) tests are given to determine a student’s progress. Seats in the class are not guaranteed if students do not meet expectations.

Lectures and Readings

Short papers and take-home assignments will allow students to reflect on readings and lectures and make connections between their classroom observations and course material.

Attendance and Class Participation
Attendance is mandatory. Students are responsible for all information and all assignments contained in the syllabus. If something is not understood, it is the student's responsibility to address the issue with the instructor. Each student is responsible for his or her success in the program and is encouraged to inform the instructor of any academic difficulties or problems that could interfere with completion of the program. A student will be withdrawn from class after six consecutive days of being absent.

Class Times

Classes typically meet four days per week. On TCC’s campus, classes are set up by subject and educational functional levels. The classes are 50 minutes long. At our offsite locations, classes are in three hours blocks and usually are from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. or 6 - 9:00p.m.
